Commons sind Ressourcen, die aus selbstorganisiertem, bedürfnisorientiertem Produzieren und Nutzen hervorgehen. Das gemeinsame Bewirtschaften von Allmenden (Natur, Wikipedia, Wohngenossenschaften, Open-Source-Softwares, Sharing-Communities u.s.w.) gestaltet sich besonders herausfordernd, weil unsere Gewohnheiten tief verankert sind in den Strukturen des Alltags, des Markts, des Staats.

«Power to the Commons», ein transkontinentales Gemeinschaftsprojekt von SALTS mit dem Waza art center, Lubumbashi/DR Kongo, erweitert mit Theorien wie Ubuntu/Afrikanischer Humanismus* unsere hiesige Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage, wie Kulturzentren, Kollektive, Einzelkünstler*innen und wir alle an der Idee der Commons wachsen können.

Mit hoffentlich konkreten Konsequenzen für unsere eigene Praxis.

*Ubuntu bedeutet in etwa Menschlichkeit, Nächstenliebe und Gemeinsinn sowie die Erfahrung und das Bewusstsein, dass man selbst Teil eines Ganzen ist.

SALTS wird ko-kuratiert von Samuel Leuenberger und Benedikt Wyss.

Commons are resources that emerge from self-organized, need-oriented production and use. The collective management of commons (nature, Wikipedia, housing cooperatives, open source software, sharing communities, etc.) is particularly challenging because our habits are deeply rooted in the structures of everyday life, the market, the state.

"Power to the Commons", a transcontinental joint project of SALTS with Waza art center, Lubumbashi/DR Congo, expands with theories like Ubuntu/African Humanism* our local engagement with the question of how cultural centers, collectives, individual artists, and all of us can grow in the idea of the commons.

With hopefully concrete consequences for our own practice.

*Ubuntu could roughly mean humanity, charity, and public spirit, as well as the experience and awareness that one is part of a whole.
